Gumbet
Gumbet

Gumbet is a region where there are many resorts. Its name comes from the many white domed cisterns in the area. It developed rapidly as it was near to the town centre and has the closest and most popular beaches in the area. It has become crowded and everyday more bars, restaurants and entertainment places seem to be added, to the point where it has become a rival to Bodrum. Gumbet bay, which is located between the points of Inceburun and Adaburun is also suitable for watersports. The most popular watersports centre on the peninsula is in Gumbet. It has ideal conditions for windsurfing, parasailing and water skiing. On the peninsula between Gumbet and Bitez there is Akvaryum Bay (Aquarium bay), stretching for three kilometres towards the South. In front of it is Gorecik Island, which is also called Ic Island. Between the peninsula and the island there is an area forming a strait and the cove, a sheet of bright clean water rightly know to locals as the aquarium. Throughout the day it get hoards of daily boat trips and at night gulets that anchor there.

Aspat
Aspat

The famous local traditional song of Cokertme tells of this region. Those who come with their yachts love this region as it is closed to the North west winds. It has fresh drinking water availablefor those who come themselves or by yachts. On the hill, although partly in ruins, the Castle of Aspat (Cifit) stands in its full grandeur. During the reign of Mausolus the ancient city of Termera was built in here. The cove for many years was a shelter for pirates. The castle was built as a monitoring point. The old stone building on the shore is believed to have been constructed by an Arab official from the island of Crete.

Bagla
Bagla

Bagla has the best coves and beaches of the whole peninsula. The beautiful cove to the west of Baglar Point is popular for daily boat trips. The small inlands to the east of the cove are calmer. The coves and the area around them are available for camping. In the past, there used to a mandarin garden that had a stone pool with good water in it, surrounded by Cyprus pine trees. This used to be a summer Resort for Bodrum locals in the past. They used to come here by small boatsfor swimming and entertainment.

Camel Beach (Ortakent)
Camel Beach (Ortakent)

After Bitez comes the longest beach of Bodrum, Ortakent in Yahsi Yalisi. The sea is a bit colder then the rest of the beaches on peninsula but it is so clean that it was given a Blue Flag certificate. The area behind the beach is a very gren plain full of citrus fields all the way up to Bodrum. Kargi Bay, which is on the western end of the North of Baglar Point is very sheltered and has a very fine sandy beach. The beach, apart from being popular with those who want a swim, is also frequented by boat trips. An entertainment peculiar to the region is riding on a camel on the beach.
