The Gulf of Gocek, with well equipped marinas set in a beautiful pine forest, is one of the Mediterrariean's best sailing spots. Dotted with islands and indented with many coves, its land and seascapes are irresistible.
Gocek is popular with yacthing types who come here for its excellent marina.The yacht regatta, organized by Göcek Yacht Club, attracts vessels from many other regions each May and November.
Yet Göcek isn’t just ideal for yachting visitors. A wide range of hotel accommodation, restaurants, entertainment, technical facilities, travel agencies, communication facilities, health services and other necessities are available in Gocek.
In December of 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency declared that the 805 km square area surrounding Göcek and Fethiye was a protected area. After the enactment of this ruling, new buildings could not be constructed with more than two and a half storeys.
Almost all of the buildings and accommodation found in Gocek today are two storeys or less, which limits the number of rooms in hotels, apartments and pensions to provide a more personal touch for guests.
