Bodrum
Duration :
7 Nights
Description :
Caria Classic Bodrum to Gocek ; 7 days

The classic Blue Cruise * allows you to explore the ancient seafarers’ coast south from Bodrum to the small port of Gocek, enjoying a wonderful variety of scenery along the way. Arrive in Bodrum a day or two before to set the scene and explore at your own pace the historical highlights of the town’s ancient predecessor- Halicarnassus. Take a tour around the ancient amphitheatre, Myndus Gate and walls, the Mausoleum site, and of course visit the Bodrum Castle which houses a wealth of discoveries made underwater and on land, in the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. You may also have time to explore modern Bodrum and enjoy dining at waterfront restaurants or shopping until midnight, and the famous nightlife until dawn.

Tour programme :
Day 1 :
Boarding your gulet after 3.00pm, you will be introduced to your crew and captain, and the Guletbookers team will ensure you are briefed on all aspects of the cruise over a ‘welcome cocktail’, while the captain files his departure with the harbour authorities. You may have dinner aboard and stay in Bodrum Harbour or a short distance outside.

**(According to your request , you may also spend the overnight on a closer bay ,rather than staying on the port.)

Day 2 :
Sail away but enjoy that superb view back over Bodrum and harbour as the gulet sets sail across the widest part of Gokova Gulf for the opposite cape and to anchor in the ancient harbour of Knidos (Cnidus). Swim, explore and lunch at this ancient Hellenistic city site which lies at the tip of the long narrow and rugged Datça peninsula. Archaeologists are still excavating the vast area of the city, which was one of the wealthiest and most strategic port cities with two harbours- you will be moored in one. Take your shoes ashore and discover the amphitheatre overlooking the harbour, the acropolis, the agora, and the temple site of the cult of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. The Dorian League city cultivated arts and science and is best known for the famous lost statue Aphrodite of Knidos by the sculptor Praxiteles, while other famous residents were Eudoxus the astronomer, and Sostratus- the builder of another of the Seven Ancient Wonders- the lighthouse or Pharos of Alexandria. The gulet will move on to the sheltered bay of Palamutbükü for dinner and overnight anchorage.

Day 3 :
Breakfast aboard while barely rocking gently on clear blue sea! After breakfast and a quick swim, the boat will cruise on to Kargı or Inceburun for lunch and swimming. In late afternoon, a cruise of about one hour takes you into the harbour of Datça where the captain will drop anchor towards the evening. Dinner and overnight can be in the Datça Harbour so you can explore the small town for a while, or in a nearby bay if you prefer to have a quiet night.

Day 4 :
Depart for an early morning cruise of about 3 hours to Çatal Island or Kızıl Island. After lunch and a long leisurely afternoon there,  the gulet sails onto to Ekincik Bay. Dinner and overnight will be spent in one of the bays of Ekincik.

Day 5 :
Breakfast in Ekincik Bay before you can take an (optional)day tour of a river boat trip up through the labyrinth of the Dalyan River Delta formed by dense reedbeds, to the ancient city of Caunos opposite modern day Dalyan. See  the rock tombs of the Lycian Kings, bathe in the mud baths on the lakeside,  and on your return wonder at the Beach of Iztuzu, famous as the nesting grounds for the sea turtles or Caretta Caretta. Return for dinner and overnight in another of the bays of Ekincik.

Day 6 :
The captain will set sail before breakfast to make sure you reach the Fethiye Gulf in time for lunch and swimming. You will arrive into Ağa Limani Bay after a long cruise from Ekincik. After lunch and swimming in Ağa Limanı, a short cruise will take you to Manastır Bay more commonly known as Cleopatra’s Bath or Sunken Bath Bay.  You can view the underwater ruins of Roman baths perhaps from the ancient city Lydae. Continue a short cruise to the Bay of Göcek surrounded by pine trees, for dinner and overnight in a sheltered bay.

Day 7 :
After breakfast, set sail for a relaxed all-day cruise and swim tour of the natural and turquoise waters of the Bay of 12 Islands. Stop at perhaps two or three of Yassica Islands, Hamam Bay, Kursunlu Bay, Yavansu, Tersane Island, Gobun Bay, Boynuzbuku, Gocek Island, Domuz Island and Zeytin & Kizil Island. In the late afternoon, you will sail into Gocek for dinner and overnight. (If requested, early disembarkation in Gocek)

Day 8 :
Enjoy breakfast on Gocek Harbour before the time comes to say farewell to your shipmates, crew and the gulet. Disembarkation is usually between 9:30 and 10am.

***Itineraries are subject to local weather conditions and may, for the safety of the passengers and boat, be changed at short notice by the captain, whose decision in such matters is final. The passenger’s personal interests may be discussed and included in the itinerary if possible.
